 Spiritual and Pastoral Care

The St Andrew’s Healthcare chaplains are available to offer spiritual and pastoral care and counselling, a listening ear, and support to residents, relatives, carers, visitors and staff.

Our chaplaincy is based at our stunning 19th Century chapel, which was designed by Sir Gilbert Scott, the famous Victorian architect who is probably best known for St Pancras Station. The chapel is open to all throughout the day, and there are regular services on Sundays and mid-week services, to which all are welcome.

The Chaplaincy seeks to serve the spiritual needs of people of all faiths and none, and respects everyone’s beliefs and cultural background. As well as our Chapel, we have a Multi-Faith Prayer Room, which is open all day every day for prayer, reflection and quietness. Muslim Friday prayers for patients and staff are run from this facility.

We also offer Ward services and Chaplaincy groups throughout St Andrew’s. An external panel of world faith community representatives is available to visit patients on request.

Our chaplains are always available to service users and staff for confidential consultation in times of personal anxiety, stress, or bereavement. We have a two dedicated chaplains, the Reverend Julian Bowers (Church of England), and the Reverend Neil Tyrer (Church of England) and a strong supporting team of five part-time chaplains:

Rev Rowena Bass (Church of England)

Rev Fr Andrew Behrens (Roman Catholic)

Rev Michael Fleming (Roman Catholic)

Rev Tony Avery (Free Church)

Mr Asraf Osmani (Muslim)
