Speech and Language Therapy

The Speech and Language Therapy Team help to care for the many people who have problems with communication and higher-level thinking skills. These problems can impact widely on service users’ lives, our aim is to minimise these possible difficulties and promote successful participation in rehabilitation.

We are dedicated towards maximising the quality of life and social participation of our service users, and work alongside other units to ensure we offer this within the context of a multidisciplinary, holistic service.

As part of an multidisciplinary team, we provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and consultative services to residents (and their families) with communication or swallowing disorders.

Our team of specialists offer care to service users with psychiatric illness, developmental disability, acquired brain injury and certain degenerative disorders, including dementia and Huntington’s Disease.

In addition, we are active participants in providing teaching or educational services to staff, related organisations and family members.

If you would like more information about the work that we do, please contact us and we would be happy to help you.
