Forensic Clinical ASD Network (FCAN) is a new national network of clinicians working with people who have Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
The idea for having a network arose from the increase in the provision of specialist clinical services for people with ASD, particularly secure services for adults with high functioning autism or Asperger’s syndrome. There are particular problems that can arise for people with ASDs when they find themselves being treated in generic services which may have little understanding of their specific needs. Similarly those of us that work in specialist services may struggle to know how best to manage in an area without existing treatment protocols.
Initial meetings have been held in Birmingham and Northampton, and the network is currently still developing and seeking active participants. If you would like further information or to join the network please email Dr Huw Thomas, Clinical Psychiatrist, St Andrew’s Birmingham.
