Our Facilities for the ASD Service

Northampton
Set within our Northampton campus, the new ASD service provides 13 beds and a number of "on ward" therapy rooms. Unlike any other comparable facility, this new unit has been created specifically to meet the needs of this user group. This is not a unit that has been adapted; instead it has been conceived, planned and implemented to meet specific criteria. This is why every detail, from the sophisticated lighting systems, air conditioning and floor plans to the colourways and room layouts, have been integrated to deliver a unique low stimulus environment. The town centre location affords greater opportunity for service users to interact with the community and benefit from its facilities.

The new ASD unit features an Activities of Daily Living (ADL) kitchen, education room, low stimulus and a computer room. The accommodation has a large secure, integral garden with a hard play/ activity area, as well as outdoor seating.

Within the campus, service users can access a range of therapeutic facilities, including primary care services, pharmacy, vocational therapy, industrial placements, sports and leisure facilities, cafe and a recreational/ social club. A chapel and multi-faith room are also available.

Birmingham
St Andrew's Birmingham also offers a 16 bed low secure unit providing specialist care for men with ASD and a 16 bed step-down pre-discharge unit providing the final stage of care for service users before they move on to specialist housing and hostels back in the community, where appropriate.
