Our Facilities for the Brain Injury Service

There are six dedicated services across the acquired brain injury service at St Andrew’s Healthcare, four short-term and two longer-term units. They are designed to offer a variety of rehabilitation pathways and ensure that whatever the needs of the resident, there is a service tailored towards the therapeutic environment and secure services they may require.

There is a broad range of facilities available amongst our 106 acre site at Northampton including outdoor sports pitches, a multi-gym, indoor-heated swimming pool, a chapel and a multi-faith prayer room. A dedicated primary care suite, hairdresser, library, café and social club are also available.

Some of our service users are admitted from acute units shortly after injury, whereas others can be admitted after a longer interval from a range of locations. Please find below details of our units:

Based at our Northampton site, our service is divided into four short-term and two long-term services:

 

Brain Injury Services for Young People

  • Low Secure Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation – 12 beds

Brain Injury Services for Men

  • Locked Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation –  2 wards (One with 12 beds and One with 13 beds)
  • Locked Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation (with challenging behaviour)– 16 beds
  • Slow Stream Rehabilitation– 14 beds

Brain Injury Services for Women

  • Locked Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation – 14 beds

Mixed Gender Services - Community-based Rehabilitation

  • 32a Berkeley Close – 24 beds
  • Berkeley Lodge - 6 beds
