Research has shown that psychiatric problems are far more common than many people realise. For example, during their lifetime one in every two people will talk to their doctor about an emotional or psychiatric problem, one in ten will consult a psychiatrist and one in twenty will be admitted for psychiatric care.
Since it was founded in 1838, St Andrew's has operated as a non-profit making charity from its headquarters in Northampton. In recent years, the group has expanded to create additional treatment facilities in Harrow, North London and in Basildon, Essex.
St Andrew's Healthcare is located close to the centre of Northampton and yet situated within 106 acres of idyllic parkland, providing a beautiful and peaceful haven for patients receiving treatment for psychiatric illnesses.
