The Nutrition and Dietetic Service at St Andrew's Healthcare provides a high standard of nutritional assessment and diet therapy throughout the Hospital. The service aims to raise nutritional awareness and to encourage good nutrition in patients and staff.
About Us
We are a friendly team of State Registered Dietitians and a Dietetic Assistant. We provide a service to all areas of the Northampton campus and at Clare House, St Andrew's in Essex.
We advise patients (individually and/or groups) on specific therapeutic diets and on healthy eating. We work as an integral part of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best possible care for the patient.
We are available to all staff, as a resource, and are involved in multidisciplinary training. Good communication with Food Services is essential. This is facilitated through regular meetings and joint projects such as the Food and Health Policy.
Wherever possible, our practise is evidence based. We are actively involved in research that enables us to identify pathways that provide optimum patient care.
All Dietetic staff are encouraged to undertake continuing professional development. Each has a specialist field relevant to their area of work, as well as generic dietetic skills. As specialists, they not only increase and update their knowledge but are also recognised as a resource, nationally and internationally.
