	Welcome to the Voluntary Services Department At St Andrew’s we recognise the valuable contribution that can be made by voluntary helpers in complementing the work of professional staff. The Voluntary Services Department is here to welcome, encourage and support volunteers. We are responsible for the recruitment, training, placement and support of volunteers, and for advising staff throughout the organisation on all matters relating to volunteering. Why do we have volunteers?   Volunteers bring different skills and experience to our environment   Volunteers bring real world contact to our service users   Volunteers provide an additional social dimension to our service Would YOU be a good volunteer?   Are you over 18?   Do you live within easy travelling distance of St Andrew’s Healthcare?   Are you friendly, caring and a good communicator?   Do you have common sense and patience?   Are you reliable and punctual?   Do you have some time to spare? How can I help? There is a wide range of caring, therapeutic, leisure-time and social activities with service users in which you can take part, working alongside qualified staff. There are also some opportunities for volunteering in an administrative capacity in non clinical areas. We also need befrienders to visit individual service users including people who can speak languages other than English. In addition we need drivers and people to accompany service users to the Chapel on Sundays.
