| Welcome to the Voluntary Services Department At St Andrew’s we recognise the valuable contribution that can be made by voluntary helpers in complementing the work of professional staff. The Voluntary Services Department is here to welcome, encourage and support volunteers. We are responsible for the recruitment, training, placement and support of volunteers, and for advising staff throughout the organisation on all matters relating to volunteering. Why do we have volunteers? Would YOU be a good volunteer? How can I help? There is a wide range of caring, therapeutic, leisure-time and social activities with service users in which you can take part, working alongside qualified staff. There are also some opportunities for volunteering in an administrative capacity in non clinical areas. We also need befrienders to visit individual service users including people who can speak languages other than English. In addition we need drivers and people to accompany service users to the Chapel on Sundays. What's in it for me? I’m worried about being thrown in at the deep end! If you become a St Andrew’s volunteer, we will help and support you every step of the way. We will also reimburse your out of pocket and travelling expenses. How do I get involved? Please contact a member of the Voluntary Services Team who will be able to give you more information and arrange an appointment for you to have an informal discussion.
