St Andrew’s Healthcare is proud to announce this one day national conference to examine excellence in inpatient mental health care settings and ask ‘Are we there yet?’.
The St Andrew’s Nursing Advisory Group has arranged a programme of prominent national figures to speak at this event and help delegates identify research, procedures and other evidence that will help them pursue excellence in their own nursing practice. The focus is very much on nursing, but professionals from all disciplines will want to participate in this exciting conference and are welcome to join us.
Speakers include:
Len Bowers, Professor of Psychiatric Nursing and Head of Research at City University, London. Len has spent many years at the forefront of psychiatric nursing looking at methods of reducing conflict and containment in inpatient settings.
Marion Janner, Director of the charity ‘Bright’ / Star Wards programme – a project which works with mental health trusts to enhance mental health inpatients’ daily experiences and treatment outcomes. She will be asking ‘What do Inpatients Really Want?
Ian Hulatt, Mental Health Advisor for the Royal College of Nursing who has a key responsibility for advising the RCN on its input to mental health nursing policy.
Dr Jacqueline Parkes, Head of the School of Nursing at the University of Northampton, who has recently completed research into women’s experience of secure inpatient mental health services.
St Andrew’s is one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist mental health services, and is particularly strong in the development of innovative specialist inpatient services. Speakers from St Andrew’s will address issues on the Measurement of Aggression, Making Positive Connections, Performance Measures, Advocacy and Meeting the Post-Incident Needs of Frontline Staff.
In addition to presentations, the conference provides an interactive forum for delegates to explore questions of contemporary relevance with our panel of keynote speakers.
We hope that you can join us.
