SRVdivADD_bullet*The service endorses and implements an IPR programme for all staff.

SRVdivADD_bullet*All qualified staff are encouraged to take advantage of a full training and development programme and to meet their professional requirements for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and PREP (for nursing).

SRVdivADD_bullet*Staff have access to a very comprehensive medical library as well as an on-site training resource centre. A generous training budget is available to ensure that staff can obtain necessary qualifications and skills.

SRVdivADD_bullet*All staff, on starting at St Andrew's Healthcare, undertake a comprehensive induction programme to appropriately prepare them for their working environments.

SRVdivADD_bullet*All staff are offered a Safe Patient Restraint training course and receive regular annual refresher training in addition.

SRVdivADD_bullet*Unqualified staff are encouraged to take advantage of the NVQ Curriculum and a number of unqualified nursing staff receive bursaries each year to enable them to complete their professional training.

SRVdivADD_bullet*Staff are involved in a full clinical audit programme.

SRVdivADD_bullet*All clinical staff are Police checked before commencing employment.

SRVdivADD_bullet*St Andrew's Healthcare has been awared the Health Quality Services Award and is presently working towards the Investors in People award.

SRVdivADD_bullet*Staff are encouraged to undertake research projects, and particular emphasis is now put on work which will provide evidence based practice.

SRVdivADD_bullet*The service is currently working on the development of Clinical Pathways as part of Clinical Governance.

SRVdivADD_bullet*St Andrew's Healthcare works to an agenda for quality improvement which has included:
- the reorganisation of the clinical notes
- the Clinical Procedures Manual etc.

The Hospital has a Risk Management Group, which is supported by the Divisional Management Teams, whose task is to regularly monitor levels of accidents, incidents, injuries, complaints and sickness.
