*The Adult Secure Mental Health Service at Northampton is committed to caring for patients in the least restrictive clinical environment appropriate for their safety needs, and in a manner that facilitates treatment and rehabilitation objectives.

Cpolegy2The service provides a range of specialised treatment facilities that cater for adults with mental health needs and who present with challenging behaviour and/or a history of dangerous or offending behaviour.

Highly individualised plans of treatment and support are developed in a variety of secure and open settings within the St Andrew's Healthcare Campus.

restrictive environment.

Patient Profile

The Adult Secure Mental Health Service is for:
SRVdivCHA_bullet*Adults with severe mental health difficulties, who may have a history of challenging or dangerous and/or offending history.
SRVdivCHA_bullet*Adults detained for treatment under the Mental Health Act, either with or without restrictions.
SRVdivCHA_bullet*Adults with a history of treatment resistive mental health problems
SRVdivCHA_bullet*The majority of male patients are likely to present with schizophrenia,
bi-polar and organic disorders. A significant proportion will exhibit secondary complications of personality disorder, substance misuse and non-compliance with treatment.
SRVdivCHA_bullet*Women with severe mental health difficulties who need detention in a women only setting to ensure safety and facilitate therapeutic progress.
SRVdivCHA_bullet*The women admitted tend to present with either personality disorder or complex psychopathology and behavioural disturbance

SRVdivCHA_bullet*Treatment programmes offering a wide range of therapeutic modalities, combining psychiatric, educational, recreational and cognitive behavioural perspectives integrated through regular meetings of the multi-disciplinary team.

SRVdivCHA_bullet*Access to a full range of dental and primary healthcare services.
SRVdivCHA_bullet*An environment and campus conducive to mental health and normalisation.

SRVdivCHA_bullet*A multi-disciplinary team approach, including an experienced social work team helping to bridge the gap between hospital care and the patient’s home area, family and community mental health team.
