Huntington's Disease Pathway of Care

Upon admission, St Andrew’s multi-disciplinary team will conduct a full assessment of physical and neuropsychiatric conditions to determine an individual care pathway. Each pathway includes regular assessments detailing physical and neuropsychiatric problems.

The pathway maximises service users' quality of life, helping maintain functional abilities and optimising physical health within the constraints of the disease as well as supporting the acquisition of new skills and interests.

We provide neuropsychiatric treatment to reduce cognitive impairment and associated behavioural disturbances. Where required, our speech and language therapists provide assistance with any communication or nutritional issues that may arise.

We have no pre-determined limit on length of stay. Careful provision of the Mental Capacity Act is undertaken so that the rights of individuals are supported at all times.

Day care within a 25 mile radius of our Northampton site is available. In addition, out-patient assessment and treatment advice for other providers can be accessed.
