Our voluntary helpers are invaluable to our service. They provide the perfect complement to our full and part time staff.
The Voluntary Services Department is here to welcome, encourage and support volunteers. We are responsible for the recruitment, training, placement and support of volunteers, and for advising staff throughout the organisation on all matters relating to volunteering.
Our volunteers bring varied skills to our organisation; their outside experience brings fresh ideas and more efficient ways of working, which ultimately benefit our service users. They also bring an outside perspective to our residents and provide an additional social dimension to our organisation.

Would YOU be a good volunteer?
- Are you over 18?
- Would you like to help us care for disadvantaged people?
- Do you live within easy travelling distance of St Andrew’s Healthcare?
- Are you friendly, caring and a good communicator?
- Do you have common sense and patience?
- Are you reliable and punctual?
- Do you have some time to spare?
How can I help?
Working alongside our full or part time staff, there are a wide range of caring, therapeutic, leisure and social activities with service users which we want our volunteers to get involved with.
We also need:
- befreinders to visit individual service users (fluency in foreign languages is a bonus)
- drivers
- help to accompany service users to the Chapel in Sundays
- admin help and non activity based assistance
What's in it for me?
- Develop your skills and learn new ones
- Become part of a team
- Make new friends
- Experience a different environment
- Find a new direction
- Work with an extraordinary group of people
- Gain confidence and satisfaction
- Benefit from in-house training and support throughout your volunteering
- Gain valuable experience and personal growth
- Gain satisfaction from knowing you are contributing to the quality of life of our service users
I’m worried about being thrown in at the deep end!
If you become a St Andrew’s volunteer, we will help and support you every step of the way. We will also reimburse your out-of-pocket and travelling expenses.
