Care Programme Approach

Our CPA process forms the basis of our initial and continued assessment of every service user that enters our care. We ensure that all parties involved in any care given prior to admission are included in the process to allow consistency and clarity of the current situation.

Our CPA approach fits perfectly with the ethos of our charity; to ensure that all care is centred around the service user. A major part of this is including our residents in the development and refinement of their care plans, which we try to do where possible.  Care planning is undergone by an extensive clinical team and is underpinned by our healthcare governance department.

Treatment plans are specially designed for the individual, with the involvement of the multi-disciplinary team, service user, their family and carers, if applicable. They take into account physical and mental wellbeing, and provide a variety of interventions and therapies to maximise quality of life.

Multi-disciplinary teams

Many of our staff work as part of multi-disciplinary teams, which include psychologists, consultant psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists and a variety of supporting professionals such as social workers, healthcare workers, clinical co-ordinators, language and speech therapists and teachers.

CPA Meeting Stucture

Our CPA meetings are structured to make sure that all parties are fully informed and involved in the entire CPA process. They consist of the following:

  • Before the initial meeting, you will be contacted by a CPA Administrator to identify a representative to act on behalf of the funding authority
  • Attendees will be invited eight weeks in advance of the initial meeting. A summary document will be sent within ten working days prior to the meeting
  • The initial meeting will determine the current progress and result in a firm action plan detailing aims, interventions, timescales, responsibilities and service user involvement
  • Minutes of the initial meeting, including an updated care plan will be distributed within a maximum of 10 days
