We provide a specialist service for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorders, co-morbid mental health problems and/or challenging behaviours.
We work with adolescents aged between 13 and 18 years (on admission) who are vulnerable and characterised by poor adaptive functioning. Young people are admitted who have a moderate learning disability through to those who function in the borderline and average range. Our aim is to increase their skills whilst decreasing the risk that each young person presents.
The model of care is based on the TEACCH approach, using TEACCH principles of structure, predictability, routines and the use of visual aids to support many of the core deficits of ASD. To enable a high quality of care, our staff have an excellent understanding of ASD and the TEACCH approach.
The Multi Disciplinary Team comprises of Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Teachers and Nurses. There is also input from Speech and Language therapists, Physiotherapists and Dieticians.
