Our service is appropriate for:
- Adults between the ages of 18 and 65, with a brain injury whose physical, cognitive, emotional and/or behavioural problems require rehabilitation within an in-patient setting
- Those who retain capacity and are able to consent to in-patient treatment as well as those detained under the Mental Health Act (1983)
- Adults with a brain injury who have committed or are suspected of having committed serious offences
- Those who have rehabilitation needs based on brain injury and at any stage after the injury
- Our service users may have physical, communication or swallowing problems requiring specific rehabilitation, medical conditions such as epilepsy, or psychiatric conditions that may require them to be detained under the Mental Health Act (1983)

A multi-disciplinary team is provided with several pre-admission templates, from which their initial assessment is made. These include:
- St Andrew’s Healthcare service admission document
- Multi-disciplinary care plan
- Risk assessment
- HoNOS
- Social and personal history
- Medication/medical history
- Physical health
- Forensic history
Upon admission, a 16-week multi-disciplinary assessment will form the core component of planning the care pathway. This identifies service user needs and establishes specific individual assessment criteria, which includes interventions and anticipated outcomes. Core assessments involve:

- Occupational Therapy
- Social Work
- Education
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Dieticians
- Physiotherapy
