Services for Adolescents

St Andrew’s adolescent service is the largest of its kind in the UK, leading the field in the provision of services for young people with complex mental health and learning disability needs.

St Andrew's Services for Adolescents

Our highly trained teams help young people work towards leading independent lives by maximising their potential through positive interventions. Extensive leisure facilities create a conducive environment and provide multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment and care pathways to assist service users move through the care pathway.

We completed an excellent Healthcare Commission inspection and recent work completed with the Children’s Bureau found that a significant number of services users, upon leaving us, go into low secure or community-rehabilitation programmes. The average length of stay for the young people within the mental health service is two and a half years for girls and eighteen months for boys, which is continually improving.  We work with the local NHS to ensure that we meet the highest criteria in the quality of care we provide and this is evidenced through our inspection reports by either the Health Care Commission or QNIC

Engaging with Education

The charity constantly encourages our young people to re-engage with the idea of education and lifelong learning.  We have an extensive educational and vocational programme, which follows national curriculum guidelines. Many of our service users have gone on to pass GCSE examinations (read more about the education facilities available). Through a programme of integrating education and therapy the young people are equipped with skills for transition to other services, including low secure services and community based services.
