Dr Iyer joined St Andrew’s Healthcare in 2007 as a Consultant in adolescent developmental disabilities working within a mixed gender ward at Malcolm Arnold House for adolescents with learning disabilities.
She has a dual accreditation in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Learning Disabilities. Dr Iyer has a special interest in behaviour phenotypes in metabolic disorders and psychopathology in young people with learning disabilities, and has undertaken presentations at national and international conferences.
During her time at St Andrew’s, she has been involved in developing practices such as sensory interventions, person centered planning, liaising with general hospitals and family work in secure care. Adopting a developmental perspective, she is involved in tailoring service specifications to meet the needs of the service users.
Dr Iyer is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the National Autistic Society, the British Indian Psychiatrist Association (BIPA), AACAMH and the Society for the Study of Behavourial Phenotypes (SSBP).
