Treatment Philosophy for Men

Our Treatment Philosophy for Men

All of our care pathways are based around using appropriate interventions to reduce negative behaviour and encourage positivity. We place particular emphasis on individual care plans, and work with the service user to develop these, focused right from the start on the journey to rehabilitation.

The aim of treatment is to alleviate psychiatric symptoms, promote pro-social behaviours, develop coping skills, and reduce risk with the intention to move service users to the least restrictive environment.

A full multi-disciplinary team including medical, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, education, dietetics and social work services are on hand to assist in the development of the care plan. Interventions are tailored towards providing the optimum environment for our service users to build independent skills and move towards community-based living. All interventions emphasise an individual’s strengths and support self-management where possible.

We categorise our interventions under the following:

  • Biological (physical, pharmacological)
  • Psychological (counselling, therapies, life-skills training)
  • Social (skills training, inclusion activities)

Environmental (facilities available on campus)Our service users are supported by a full range of primary and secondary care facilities, including dental and GP, physical rehabilitation services and cultural and spiritual support.
