About Our Dementia Service

The specialist dementia and challenging behaviour unit at St Andrew’s is a branch of our older people’s service. The charity offers tailored, secure care pathways to residents primarily over 55 years of age who have challenging behaviour as a consequence of either early onset, acquired, static or progressive dementia.

As dementia varies from person to person, our assessment and treatment plans are designed and administered by knowledgeable staff who understand the unique behaviours that the disease presents. We work closely with our NHS and social services partners to reduce symptoms so that, where possible, individuals can be returned to local healthcare teams for continued treatment. For service users who require long-term care, we have superb facilities, individual bedrooms and resources to make their stay comfortable. We do not have a pre-determined limit on an individual’s length of stay.

Our clinical teams are amongst the best in the country. Their research and continued development ensures that we are at the forefront of new treatments, practices and policies in the care of dementia.
