Gaining skills, building confidence

Workbridge is a charity with a difference: set up over 30 years ago it offers a vocational pathway for people with mental health needs, learning disabilities or brain injuries.

The philosophy behind Workbridge is to provide people with an opportunity to work as part of a team, teaching them both technical skills and, more importantly, life skills.

We encourage independence, respect, teamwork and trust; building skills, knowledge and self esteem in a supportive environment.

Last year, the people we supported achieved 74% of their personal goals which included work skills, work attitude and social skills.

Service users can access a wide range of activities including woodwork, horticulture, catering, office skills, contracting and ceramics.

Our vocational pathway supports service users at every stage. We understand the individual’s interests and goals before agreeing what work environment will suit them best. Our skilled staff mentor service users through work activities and can coach them through job searches, applications and interviews.

All the activities carried out by service users at Workbridge are meaningful, essential to the running of a fully functional work environment open to the public. The funds raised by the commercial activities assist the charity to develop and enrich the services offered to our service users and customers.
