St Andrews

St Andrew’s is one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist health care for men, women and young people with mental disorders, acquired brain injury and progressive neurological conditions. Patients in our service present with a range of complex physical, behavioural and cognitive needs which require expert in-depth assessment and interventions to enable them to experience occupations that promote their wellbeing.

Prichard is a 16 bedded medium secure ward designed to meet the physical, emotional, social and vocational needs of younger people aged 18-25 years, who have an offending history and corresponding mental health condition or personality disorder.  The rationale for development a ward specifically for this age range is the acknowledgement that younger adults at this stage of development have distinct (mental health, social and emotional) needs to other adult offending populations.  The therapeutic models underlying the ward include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT).
