You can achieve more at St Andrew’s Healthcare

A top 20 UK charity, St Andrew’s is a unique provider of specialist care in mental health and learning disability. We aspire to deliver truly world class, holistic services within our outstanding, modern facilities. Our independence means we can always put patients’ interests at the heart of decision making, while re-investing surpluses in frontline services.  We are currently transforming the Charity and have introduced Integrated Practice Units (IPUs) as the vehicle to deliver ‘Value Based Healthcare’.  This will ensure our patients consistently get the best possible outcomes and local teams gain more control and responsibility.

The Role & person

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Dietitian with excellent communication skills and self-motivation to join St. Andrew’s Healthcare, a leading, not for profit, provider of in-patient psychiatric care. This post will be at our Essex site in North Benfleet where we care for up to 80 men and women aged 18 years and over with complex mental health needs.

Meeting nutritional needs in this context can be challenging but very rewarding with the opportunity to make a significant difference to patient care. Your dietetic caseload would be varied and could include management of nutrition support, Diabetes (type 1 and type 2), weight management, gastroenterology, dysphagia diets, food allergies and intolerance and management of over and under hydration. Previous experience of working with a variety of nutritional needs is needed for this post.

This post could be suitable for a band 6 dietitian who feels ready to progress to band 7 or an already establised band 7 dietitian. The role will build on your existing dietetic skills - clinical knowledge, communication skills, motivational interviewing, case load management and collaborative working. Adaptability and innovation is required in order to develop the service in response to changes in need. This post requires the ability to work independently with support from your line manager and the band 7 dietitians based at Northampton. We are committed to on-going professional development and have monthly professional meetings at our Northampton site which you will be supported to attend.

St Andrews has a strong ethos of multidisciplinary working and has close links with Speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and the ward teams. The dietetics team also works closely with the on-site catering teams who provide a fresh cook catering service, which is tailored to patient’s needs.

Rewards / Benefits

St Andrews Healthcare offers an attractive benefits package including pension, sickness policy on par with the NHS, 35 days annual leave, life cover, car lease scheme, cycle to work scheme, healthcare cash plan, free parking and paid DBS application.
