Thoresby provides a medium secure setting for men who have learned to use challenging ways of behaving in order to cope with routine challenges in life. The ward runs as a therapeutic community and strives to ensure that the men living on the ward are involved in decision making, work alongside staff to establish care and treatment plans and participate in all aspects of running and living in an in-patient ward.
Many of the men have experienced severe trauma in their lives and staff members need to work to develop a compassionate and sensitive ward culture that helps the men to develop trust. Our ultimate objective is to help the men to feel safe enough to learn new ways of behaving so that they can move towards community living.
You will be working alongside like-minded professionals who share your commitment to outcomes-focused, individualised care. We aspire to deliver truly world class results, so standards are high and there’s a big emphasis on innovation and best practice. We’re a major provider of NHS Services. We’re also a charity, with a proud history and reputation. And because we re-invest our surpluses, we can always put the interests of our patients first and you can really see the impact of your work on their lives.
We recognise how important our nurses are to the success of our work and the future of our organisation. So we’ve recently introduced new specialist career pathways. You can realise your full potential through a structured plan encompassing training, development, mentoring, responsibility, qualifications, research and progression – with the flexibility to follow a path into senior clinical roles or nursing management positions.
As the Clinical Nurse Leader you will be the most senior nurse on duty, you will lead the staff team, support the Nurse Manager with audits and the general running of the ward to a high standard and will have an insight into a Therapeutic Community and be prepared to train in this to a high standard.
