The Consultancy Service

Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a dynamic, passionate and highly skilled team of psychologists where you can use your skills across a range of clinical populations?  Our service is constantly growing, so if you are a proactive Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with a strong client-focus, excellent communication skills and a “can-do” attitude, we want to hear from you.

Our service specialises in developing and delivering community based services for St Andrew’s.  We currently offer a range of services including, a busy private therapy clinic, an Expert Witness Service, Diagnostic Assessment Clinics (ADHD and ASD) and a Complex Treatment Service for Military Veterans. We also provide case consultation and reflective practise for Children’s Homes as well as running teaching sessions at schools, universities, care homes and local businesses on a variety of topics including mindfulness and stress management.

We are seeking an enthusiastic psychologist to join our team to primarily provide therapy in our Veterans Complex Treatment service and potentially support our busy private therapy clinic with provision of therapy and specialist assessments.  Therefore the ideal candidate will be looking for a varied role and bring specific expertise in trauma therapy with adults.  Experience in working with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders would be desirable.

The Role and Person

You will be able to work independently as well as closely and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You will be eager to take ownership and responsibility for delivering your work and will be self-driven, results-oriented and be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.

Even within this fixed term role you will be encouraged to develop your strengths and skills through a robust structure of clinical supervision and opportunities for professional development.   St Andrews has an excellent record of providing opportunities for research, training and continuing professional development so you will also have access to peer support from the wider Charity, as well as regular CPD events.   Training relevant to the requirements of the role will be provided.

Although the Consultancy Service offices are based in Northampton, the post holder will also be required to deliver psychological services away from this base introducing variety to the structure of your week. Due to the travel required, a full driver’s licence is essential. However, in return, you will also benefit from having the flexibility to work from home when appropriate to do so.

In order to be eligible you will need to be registered with HCPC and the British Psychological Society. ASD diagnostic experience is desirable but we can offer ADOS2 training if this is an area in which you would like to professionally develop.  Experience in delivering trauma focused interventions (either tCBT or EMDR) is essential.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate experience of working successfully with a varied child and adult population with a wide range of mental health needs and will therefore ideally have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience. You should have the clinical and interpersonal skills to independently deliver, to the level of excellence, psychological assessment and treatment in a variety of modalities.

We operate a supportive team ethos and therefore being an integral member of our team, you will also be asked to provide cover for other clinicians when on leave.  You may also be asked to get involved in new projects relevant to your skill set given we are a dynamic and growing service.

One of our new psychologists who recently joined our team had this to say about us:  “What a refreshing and dynamic team! The clinicians are friendly and warm but also focused and driven. It’s amazing how quickly things get progressed here from ideas into actions”.

If this sounds like your type of working environment, we look forward to receiving your application.

The position is initially offered as a 12 month fixed term contact and there may be potential for longer term / permanent opportunities after this date.

Reward

We offer an excellent benefits package including pension, 38 days holiday, sickness policy on par with NHS, life cover, cycle to work scheme and childcare vouchers and opportunities for research, teaching and continuing professional development.
