You can achieve more at St Andrew’s Healthcare
A top 20 UK charity, St Andrew’s is a unique provider of specialist care in mental health and learning disability. We aspire to deliver truly world class, holistic services within our outstanding, modern facilities. Our independence means we can always put patients’ interests at the heart of decision making, while re-investing surpluses in frontline services. We are currently transforming the Charity and have introduced Integrated Practice Units (IPUs) as the vehicle to deliver ‘Value Based Healthcare’. This will ensure our patients consistently get the best possible outcomes and local teams gain more control and responsibility.
The Northampton Low Secure and Locked Integrated Practice Unit (IPU) consists of four wards comprising of two ten-bedded male low secure wards and two male locked rehabilitation wards. The low secure wards are separated by level of functioning.
The locked rehabilitation wards are differentiated by age range of patients. One ward is for working age males. The other is for older males, many of whom suffer with cognitive disorders and co-morbid physical health conditions. There is a full multidisciplinary team on each ward contributing to an individualised treatment package for the patients. This role advertised is for Foster Ward, the older adult male locked rehabilitation ward.
The IPU offers an excellent opportunity to deliver value-based healthcare focusing on clinical outcomes. The IPU is focusing on using clinically relevant outcomes that will support the recovery and progress of patients to less restrictive environments in line with improvements in their mental health and reductions in their risk. One of the main functions of the IPU’s is to give more autonomy to staff to make decisions that will help improve patient outcomes. As such we are looking for people who have new ideas and who want a role where they have more autonomy to make a real difference to patient care.
We are extremely proud to empower the careers of our medical professionals, and our Executive Medical Director and the majority of our Clinical Directors have grown and developed into their current roles within the Charity
We also support a number of our Consultant Psychiatrists through an Executive MBA programme at some of the most prestigious business schools in the country. There are also opportunities to attend our regular internal CPD events and for you to develop a medico-legal out-patient practice as part of the St Andrews Consultancy Service.
The successful candidate will lead a full MDT and help shape services further through strategic decision-making and improvement projects whilst having support from a team of Junior Doctors and MDT specialists. You will also be able to undertake research projects as part of St Andrew's commitment to innovation and world-class care.
Applicants must have MRCPsych or equivalent and hold a CCT in Forensic Psychiatry, General Adult Psychiatry or Older Adult Psychiatry.
