St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity with an excellent and well-deserved reputation as a provider of specialist mental healthcare. We transform the lives of people with the greatest mental health needs and have a reputation for managing highly challenging patients. Throughout our 180 year history we have helped some of society’s most vulnerable people and today we proudly continue to build world-class mental healthcare services. Our commitment to holistic care, safety, recovery and innovative therapies and treatment makes St Andrew’s the perfect place to take your career to a new level.
The Women’s Medium Secure Integrated Practice Unit (IPU) offers a gender specific treatment programme for women who require specialist forensic input. The IPU consists of 3 wards comprising of 42 beds, spread across the following wards: An admission and stabilisation ward and two specific treatment wards (Mental Illness & Personality Disorder). There is a full multidisciplinary team on each ward, including a senior speciality doctor contributing to an individualised treatment package for the patients.
The IPU offers an excellent opportunity to deliver value-based healthcare focusing on clinical outcomes. The IPU is focusing on using clinically relevant outcomes that will support the recovery and progress of patients to less restrictive environments in line with improvements in their mental health and reductions in their risk.
The successful candidate will lead a full MDT and help shape services further through strategic decision-making and improvement projects. The IPU structure means that there is flexibility within the service to make decisions locally that will impact on how care is delivered. You will also be able to undertake research projects as part of St Andrew's commitment to innovation and world-class care, if this is an area of interest.
The number of patients under your care will be dependent on the number of sessions of employment. There is some flexibility around whether this is a full-time or part-time post (dependent on the preference of the successful candidate, and in consultation with the current Consultants already in post).
Applicants must have MRCPsych or equivalent and hold a CCT in Forensic Psychiatry or Adult Psychiatry.
The post attracts a competitive salary with travel allowance and also the opportunity to develop a medico legal and out- patient service via the St Andrew’s Consultancy service where this work is remunerated separately.
In addition our benefits package includes pension, sickness policy on par with NHS, 41 days annual leave (pro rata), life cover, car lease scheme, free parking, cycle to work scheme child care vouchers, relocation allowance subject to status and much more.
