The role

The role is specifically designed to drive and implement practice and service development initiatives across our IPUs. 

As Modern Matron you will report to the Director of Nursing.  You will provide visible and high quality professional leadership in nursing and supporting clinical standards. Working collaboratively with Clinical and Operational Leads you will identify training and development needs for nursing within the IPUs. You will also identify needs and opportunities to further develop clinical practice according to the needs of our patients.

You will combine your strong clinical credibility with the ability to inspire and influence change within outcomes, patient experience, quality, safety and risk management.  This will include leading on reduction of restrictive practices Charity-wide within the IPUs

About you

We’re looking for an experienced nurse leader with significant experience in inspiring, empowering and developing nursing teams.   You will have significant experience in mental health including developing and implementing clinical processes.  With a strong external focus you will be fully accustomed to engaging with the CQC, Commissioners, other external bodies and key stakeholders

You will have both the breadth and depth of skills to fulfil the role described above and high levels of resilience to lead and embed significant change.  We would be particularly interested if you can bring specialist experience and knowledge in Men’s and Women’s Mental Health and Psychiatric Intensive Care.

You will have the moral courage to challenge the status quo and improve patient care. You will have a strong track record of innovation, and the communication and influencing skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
