Occupational Therapy Technical Creative Arts Specialist

Location: Northampton

Salary: From £20,250 - £25,500 dependent on experience

Full time – 37.5 hours per week

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual with a broad range of creative skills with a bias towards music.  You will be delivering creative interventions as part of the Occupational Therapy team working with men and women with Learning Disabilities and co morbid mental health difficulties, who require specialist assessments and treatment within a forensic psychiatric setting.

The Learning Disability IPU

The Learning Disability IPU service comprises of six units. We offer male and female Medium Secure, Low secure and locked services. Within our Occupational Therapy team we offer comprehensive ADL, community skills and vocational pathways. The IPU also offers Sensory Integration approaches.  

Summary of role

Under minimal supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist the post holder will be expected to use agreed specialised technical and / or creative skills to co-ordinate, develop and facilitate a flexible, patient centred programme of therapeutic activities for individuals/ groups of patients within one or more designated areas.  These agreed specialist skills will either be in art, photography, multimedia, film and design, music, horticulture, woodwork or equine therapy. Where relevant, they may also manage a designated facility.
