Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor Band 3

Rose Ward, Medium Secure Unit

Hours – 18.5 Wednesday to Friday

Salary from £16,231 plus an unregistered clinical allowance of £683 (pro rata)

A part time position has arisen for the post of an occupational therapy technical instructor on Rose Ward, William Wake House. Rose ward offers a complete rehabilitation model to males who primarily a have an acquired brain injury however we also care for those with a wide range of neurodegenerative conditions such as Huntington’s disease and dementia.

This will be an opportunity for you to see our patients through the eyes of an occupational therapist and receive teaching and guidance about how to use occupation as a therapeutic medium. Occupational therapy aims to understand everyday life and for those who find it hard to manage life’s expectations, we aim to work with the individual to find a way forward. We do this firstly by understanding what activities are important to the individual, assess their skills in doing that activity and work with them to overcome any problems they have, we also introduce and explore engagement in new health promoting activities. We believe that by enabling people to do the activities that are important to them that the person’s wellbeing can be improved.

As a technical instructor will work with a senior occupational therapist who will guide you through a comprehensive induction process which will provide you with insight into the profession and help you learn the expectations of the role. You will be involved in the delivery of both one to one and group sessions such personal care, community skills, cooking skills, social skills, a variety of topic based groups and vocational placements.
