The Charity

St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.

At our Birmingham site we provide medium and low secure services for men and women with mental illness.

 

St Andrew’s Birmingham is a core partner of the West Midlands Provider Collaborative (REACH OUT) with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust. The aim of this partnership is to provide the highest quality care to our patients as close to home as possible, and the partnership is nationally recognised as one of the leading New Care Models, being highly commended by the Health Service Journal. 

The role:

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership and support to secure care in St Andrew’s Healthcare and to the REACHOUT partners in MPFT and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust to evaluate the inequalities in secure care and promoting equality as defined within the Equality Act (2010)

 

You will be co-producing work to reduce inequalities between patients who access services and proving advice on how services can be provided to reduce health inequalities. The post holder will be responsible for leading, arranging relevant events and stakeholder engagement activities, maintaining, and updating the Project plan and associated project   documentation. In addition, you will be making decisions on behalf of the Secure Care Project Leaders and building effective relationships, attending working groups where required.

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Identify wider stakeholders and establishment of forums and structures to take forward the work
  • Co-produce analysis of issues and challenges faced by patients, carers and staff
  • outline a robust range of demographic and clinical data analysis to provide evidence for setting a new approach and a strategy
  • develop a collection of patient, carer and staff stories to get a well-rounded and complete picture to understand and learn from their experiences
  • Initiate, lead and support partnerships across disciplines to address health improvement and health inequalities
  • Co-produce an action plan for the pilot that is applicable and scalable for the REACHOUT provider

 

About you

A qualified Registered Professional & Leader with evidence of significant post registration education and development and current knowledge of relevant professional and NHS policy initiatives within the clinical specialty.

You will have a highly developed specialist knowledge across clinical specialty and a range of clinical areas, which is underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.  Managing a wide variety of projects, excellent analytical, complex problem solving, information handling skills and demonstrable experience of the implementation of clinical and professional governance issues will be key to the success of the role.
