An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Dietitian with excellent communication skills and self-motivation to join St. Andrew’s Healthcare, a leading, not for profit, provider of in-patient psychiatric care. This post will be on our Northampton site, which provides care to all patients within the 5 divisions based in the Charity.

The Charity:

St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.

Support will be available from your line manager and colleagues in the dietetic team. We are committed to on-going professional development and have monthly professional meetings, which you will be supported to attend. 

The Role & Team:

This post will offer the opportunity for a newly qualified dietitian or dietitian with existing band 5 experience a new and exciting challenge. The Nutrition and Dietetic department are a centralised team. This therefore allows each member of team to work in a wide array of clinical area’s within dietetics while also experiencing working with patient’s in all divisions of the charity. Therefore this role will provide you with a supportive platform to build on existing dietetic skills, including, clinical knowledge, communication skills, motivational interviewing, case load management and collaborative working.

The Nutrition and dietetic department structure consists of 1 Nutrition and Dietetic lead, 5 highly specialist dietitians dietitian’s, 1 specialist dietitian and 1 Dietitian. Working as part of our supportive and friendly Nutrition and dietetic team, your clinical opportunities could include management of nutrition support, Diabetes (type 1 and type 2), weight management, dysphagia diets, food allergies and intolerance, restrictive eating, disordered eating and management of over and under hydration.

Support in the form of management and clinical supervision will be provided by the senior clinicians within the department. St Andrews has a strong ethos of multidisciplinary working and has close links with Speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and the ward teams. The Nutrition and dietetics team also works closely with the on-site catering team who provide a fresh cook catering service, which is tailored to patient’s needs.
