You can achieve more at St Andrew’s Healthcare

St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, educational, research and voluntary organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, alongside education and research that help to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs a learning disability or autism.

As a charity, all of our profits are re-invested into new services and new facilities. And because we’re independent, we have the flexibility to make a real difference. Joining us is your chance to make a big contribution to amazing work that is transforming the lives of some of society’s most vulnerable people.

The role

In this role you will provide educational leadership focused on two strategic areas.  The embedding of Practice Education (PE) to advance skills in patient care, and the growth of our internal capability to deliver Higher Educational (HE) programmes. These are both key to our success in growing the workforce for the future and delivering quality care to our patients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being the accountable lead for all University partnerships linked to delivering Higher Education, managing all strategic partnerships and delivering contract expectations
  • Networking and influencing external forums to enhance the Charity’s educational reputation, specifically collaborating with Health Education England
  • Strategically aligning current and future workforce development initiatives for staff across all formats of delivery within Higher Education, Practice Development and Apprenticeships
  • Advising our clinical leaders in practice education, ensuring the innovation and advancing of health care knowledge and ensuring skills are embedded in everyday service delivery
  • Managing a large, complex, multi-professional and dispersed team over four sites.
  • Leading the development for inter-professional education and simulation opportunities.
  • Writing and submitting applications for funding and accreditations, which enhance and extend our service provision.
  • Ensuring training design improves the quality of care, and evaluation mechanisms are in place to monitor and evaluate the translation of learning into practice.
  • Managing a large portion of the Learning and Development budget. Creating a robust plan to deliver services within budget and where possible accessing education grants and funds.

About you

You will be an experienced, inspiring and resilient leader who can lead and manage teams to deliver positive outcomes and impact. You will have significant experience in and expert knowledge of HE delivery, design and governance. You will ideally also be currently registered with the NMC or the HCPC and have experience of delivering clinical care.

You’ll have excellent project management skills and the ability evaluate work, demonstrate your achievements and deliver agreed outcomes with agreed budgets. Educated to Masters level in a relevant subject area, you will have a strong track record in adult education and curriculum design in practice education.

Our patients, their families and carers, our customers and your colleagues will expect you to live our CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence every single day.

You will have a real passion for innovation, cultural change and new ways of working.  You will also have the communication and influencing skills to engage with senior internal and external stakeholders.
