Maintenance Janitor, Part time

Salary: From £20,410 - £24,000 per annum, pro rata

Location: Bestwood Village, Nottinghamshire

Hours: 22.5 Hours per week

Our Winslow service has been developed to provide enhanced care for individuals with complex presentations, who are transitioning away from secure hospital care to a community setting. It comprises six self-contained residential apartments offering independent living within a community based environment. With an emphasis on sustainable living and vocational skills development, our aim is for residents to transition to successful community living.

St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.

Summary of role

Responsible for carrying out a wide range of painting and decorating, Minor Carpentry/ Plumbing & Water Hygiene works including minor maintenance works, planned preventative maintenance, maintenance, responding to emergencies and minor up-grade works at St Andrew's Healthcare Winslow and Broom Cottage as directed, to a high standard of work, and contributing to ensuring patient environments are safe, well-maintained and fit for purpose.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail, punctuality, flexible approach.
  • Calm under pressure, able to work on own initiative.
  • Experience in painting and decorating and general maintenance skills
  • Previous experience within a maintenance role or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of materials and hazards associated with use in confined spaces
  • Knowledge of completing Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Ability to cope in a closed unit environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality / dignity.
  • Resilience to work within a challenging environment.
  • Ability to work unsociable hours.
  • Physical requirements, e.g. lifting / handling
