St Andrew’s Birmingham is a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility, located in Stirchley and comprises of eight wards, which cover medium and low security for both males and females. Birmingham is a vibrant, friendly hospital with supportive and caring teams who strive to provide the best quality care to our patients.
The role of the Nurse Manager/Ward Manager
You will have managerial and operational responsibility for your ward and all aspects of performance including ward clinical and environmental standards, scheduling, inspiring and leading your team of 40 Nurses and HCAs, supported by 2 Clinical Nurse Leaders. Your effective day-to-day support and leadership will be key to maintaining operational excellence and high levels of nursing and care. There is also plenty of scope for innovation, as we will expect you to lead processes to improve the quality and operational management of your wards even further.
What you will need for this role
You will be a qualified RMN and you will have leadership experience ideally in a Deputy Ward Manager, Clinical Nurse Leader, manager, or senior leader position, and will be a strong communicator who can lead by example, implement new procedures and embed existing practices with a team. A positive outlook, creative thinking and problem solving abilities along with strong leadership and excellent communication skills are vital. We need our ward Managers to inspire teams and set a clear and compelling vision, so you will need to be able to influence and support everyone around you and be enthusiastic and positive about change.
