The Charity

St Andrew’s Healthcare is a well-established charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.

An opportunity has arisen for a Principal Psychologist to join our CAMHS division, working together with young people and their families.

The role:

Our CAMHS division is a Trauma Informed Care Service, ensuring that everything we do is driven by an understanding of how trauma affects the whole person; physically, mentally and socially. We provide low and medium secure Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient services, with the objective of enabling young people to live well and to their full potential in the least restrictive environment possible.

We are looking for a Principal Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our Therapy team, which includes forensic and clinical psychologists supported by assistants and trainees.

You will have responsibility for managing our psychology team and will undertake complex assessment and interventions including family work, influenced by a range of theoretical approaches. There will also be the expectation that the post holder will provide psychological consultation to the team and be involved in delivering reflective practice and staff support.

About you:

Professionally qualified and with HCPC registration, you will be motivated to implement change and lead an excellent team in driving quality improvement and have experience in team leadership, supervision, training and practical knowledge of structured professional judgement risk assessments, with the ability to communicate complex and at times sensitive information in an accessible and respectful way.

You will be a person-centred and ambitious individual with skills in engaging people in their recovery; delivering evidence-based group and individual psychological therapies; working collaboratively with core MDT members including psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists and social workers.

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer 38 days holiday, sickness policy on par with NHS, car lease scheme, free parking, cycle to work scheme, healthcare discounts, free parking, paid DBS application, CPD, access to vocational qualifications and much more…

Our patients, their carers and families, and your colleagues will expect you to live the St Andrew’s CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence each and every day.
