An opportunity has arisen for a senior occupational therapist to join a well-established occupational therapy team in the medium secure division working with males and females presenting a wide range of diagnoses and diverse occupational needs.

The Role

To manage a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence-based/recovery-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment with minimal supervision.  To professionally supervise members of staff including registered B5 OT and unregistered staff.  To contribute to the maintenance and development of OT service.

The post is specifically for the Women’s Blended Service a dynamic service consisting of three wards; an admissions and stabilisation unit and two rehabilitation units. Patients typically are admitted to Bracken where they are supported to stabilise and manage their immediate risk, transferring to Willow or Maple where they are able to complete the therapy required to transfer from secure care into the community. The patients who present to our service predominantly have experienced varied levels of trauma and can experience high levels of distress.

The Occupational Therapy service predominantly uses the VdT Model of Creative Ability, so knowledge of this practice model would be advantageous but not essential.

You will be expected to work independently, with responsibility for a small team of TI’s and work alongside another senior OT, reporting directly to the lead occupational therapist.

You will receive monthly supervision; have access to an in-house CPD programme and a robust personal development plan.
