The Charity

St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.

Working together with young people and their families

Our CAMHS is a Trauma Informed Care Service, ensuring that everything we do is driven by an understanding of how trauma affects the whole person; physically, mentally and socially. We provide low and medium secure Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient services, with the objective of enabling young people to live well and to their full potential in the least restrictive environment possible.

The role

We have a position for a Sports and Exercise Therapist who will be dedicated to our Child and Adolescent (CAMHS) Patients.  Our patients have access to gym and sports facilities and recreation rooms.

You will provide specialist input and care supporting patients with complex mental health needs who may exhibit challenging behaviour. Delivering bespoke physical activity sessions targeting group and individual needs you will adapt the exercise to suit the ability of each patient. You will also need to be visionary and outgoing in order to promote physical activity which helps to make positive health and behavioural changes for both patients and staff. In this post you will be making a difference to a group of individuals who may not be keen to exercise or have the ability to self-manage their condition, so continued learning, drive and determination are a must.

About you

You will have an in-depth understanding of the importance of exercise and have a minimum of a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification.   You will also need: good communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work both within a team and independently; to demonstrate patience and understanding and be able to motivate patients to exercise and improve their health.

If this sounds like you then we’d love you to apply here.

Closing date: 10th August 2022.
