The CDCT are proud to announce in collaboration with the Crisis, Disaster and Trauma section of the BPS, is hosting its 3rd International Meeting Trauma Needs in Secure Care conference taking place on Tuesday 24th March 2026. The event will host 8 speakers and a panel discussion with experts drawn from across the globe. Over three symposia's, #TNSC2026 will bring together leading clinical practitioners and academic practitioners who focus on the trauma needs of people detained in secure services.

Speaker Biograghies
Dr. Elanor Henry-Webb is a Research Associate and Lecturer at St Andrew's Healthcare since October 2019, also serving as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Buckingham since May 2023. Previous roles include Senior Research Assistant Psychologist and Research Assistant at St Andrew's Healthcare and Guest Lecturer at Staffordshire University from October 2022 to January 2023. Dr. Webb has experience as a Recovery Coach and Digital Helpline Volunteer at Beat and has volunteered as a Professional Mentor at Staffordshire University and with CHUMS CIC from 2018 to 2021. Elanor has recently completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology at the University of Lancashire. Dr. Webb also holds a Master of Science in Research in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the same institution.
Dr Katie Dhingra is a Reader in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University and is an Honorary Research Fellow in Psychology and Mental Health at the University of Manchester. Katie is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (CPsychol since 2013) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS since 2013).
Her research largely focuses on suicide and self-harm. She is particularly interested in the psychosocial mechanisms underlying suicide and self-harm, and traits related to the risk of engagement in these behaviours. Katie joined Leeds Beckett University in 2015, having previously worked as a lecturer in Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University, and a research assistant at the University of Huddersfield. She was awarded her PhD in psychology from the University of Sheffield in 2012.
Dr Dhingra also serves on the editorial boards of Psychiatry Research, BMC Psychiatry (Causes, Treatment and Prevention of Suicide Section), and Psychiatry Research Communications. She is also the former Editor-in-Chief (September 2015-2022) of the Journal of Criminal Psychology (ISSN 2009-3829). She regularly reviews for a variety of high-impact behavioural, psychological, and criminological journals. She is a member of several international specialised societies and associations in her fields of interest and expertise.
Dr Clare Crole-Rees is an Associate Professor in Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology at UCL, where she is a co-director and practice lead for the MSc in Psychology and Trauma (Adult route). Clare is also a member of the Trauma and Mental Health Research Group. she also holds Honorary Research Associate and Senior Lecturer posts within Cardiff University, where she has taught on the D Clin and post-graduate CBT programmes. Dr Crole-Rees’s time between her academic post at UCL, and the clinical work within the NHS, where she is a Consultant Counselling Psychologist, Accredited CBT therapist, and EMDR therapist. Clare has spent her career working within services for people who have experienced psychological trauma. When completing her training, Clare worked at the national Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma at the Maudsley. Since then, Clare has have worked with in Cardiff Traumatic Stress Service, and at a national Veterans Mental Health Service.
Dr Abdullah Mia is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at a Medium Secure Unit in Birmingham. Dr Mia has been working therapeutically since 2005, and as a qualified psychologist since 2011. His private practice (The Pebble Practice) involves working with organisations and employees to enhance employee wellbeing and deliver training within a corporate environment to enhance organisational dynamics and facilitate change. Dr Mia also provides individual therapy and is particularly interested in psychological therapies for men and people from ethnic minority groups.
Dr Daniel Lawrence is a Forensic Psychologist (BSc (Hons), MSc, PGDip), registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and has been working with forensic service users for over 10 years predominantly in low and medium secure mental health services. He has many years’ experiences of writing psychological reports and risk assessments to inform legal proceedings including Mental Health Review Tribunals, Parole Board Hearings, and Criminal Courts. Daniel is currently employed as a Principal Forensic Psychologist by a private healthcare organisation that provides secure mental health services for adults detained under the Mental Health Act. In his current role he is responsible for the provision of psychological assessment and treatment for adult men residing on a high dependency medium secure ward. He also also oversees the psychological provision for a low secure male ward, and a community house that provides support for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and a history of sexual offending. Daniel provides assessment and treatment for people who have committed both violent and sexual offences and with those who present with a range of mental health difficulties and issues arising from trauma including schizophrenia, personality disorders, intellectual disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions and substance misuse issues. He is also an Associate Tutor, Supervisor and PhD researcher at Cardiff.
Vivienne de Vogel is a psychologist and works as professor of Forensic Mental Health Care at Maastricht University and at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. Furthermore, she works as researcher at the Van der Hoeven Kliniek De Forensische Zorgspecialisten, a forensic psychiatric center in Utrecht, the Netherlands and as Scientific Advisor Adviescollege Verloftoetsing TBS. Her research focuses on gender-responsive working in forensic care, violence risk assessment, communication and management, trauma-informed care, inpatient violence, and mental resilience of forensic mental health professionals.
Dr Adam Mahoney is a Consultant Chartered Forensic Psychologist who has approximately 24 years’ experience working in various prison establishments. This includes 10 years working as a Psychology Manager within the Scottish women's prison estate. His research and practice-based interests include gender responsive approaches to female offending and interpersonal trauma. This includes authoring the Compassionate Recovery and Neurological Empowerment (CRANE) programme.
Dr Mahoney has a well-established psychotherapeutic practice which predominantly focuses on helping survivors of interpersonal trauma as well as alleviating other emotional difficulties in addition to reducing the risk of violent and other offending behaviours. Since 2008 he has worked on integrating mindfulness and compassion-focused approaches into his therapeutic work and has design a number of different interventions to help survivors recover from their abusive experiences.
Dr Mahoney is an Associate Professor in forensic and applied psychology at Edinburgh Napier University and provides consultancy-based services to various organisations. This includes ongoing professional supervision and supervision to Forensic Psychologists in Training.
Jon Taylor is a consultant forensic psychologist and psychotherapist who has worked in range of prison, secure hospital and community forensic settings for almost 30 years. With a keen interest in developing a rich understanding of the role of trauma and adversity in the lives of those who develop offending behaviours, Jon is committed to promoting and modelling a compassionate and co-operative approach to all aspects of forensic service provision.
Jon has been an accredited member of the BABCP since 1995, is a trained Compassion Focused Therapist and cofounder of the CFT forensic special interest group.

Your finance team will be able to provide this document for you. Your place on the conference cannot be confirmed until a PO is received.

I cannot join the live conference, how do I access a recording of the presentations?
We are delighted that you are interested in joining one of our conferences. All of our conference events are currently offered on a ‘live’ only basis. At present the technological challenges of recording and editing conferences to a level of good quality for post event distribution are yet to be resolved.
This is a service we are looking to offer in the future and we hope to be able to meet this need with our future events.

PayPal is the provider we use in order to process debit/credit card payments. You do not need to have or use your PayPal account in order to pay with a company credit card or your personal debit/credit card.

Please note that we cannot confirm your delegate space on the conference until we receive either a PO number or an email from your Finance or Accounts Team confirming that a PO is forthcoming and payment is guaranteed.
