Volunteering campaign reaches 10,000 hours!

We are pleased to announce that together with our partner charities Samaritans Northampton, The Hope Centre, The Lowdown and Northampton and District Mind, we have reached the 10,000 hours milestone in the St Andrew’s #100ThousandHours Volunteering Challenge.

10,000 hours is 10% of our overall goal, and it is a huge achievement and very rewarding to know our combined efforts have already impacted the lives of hundreds of individuals who are currently living with, or affected by, mental health issues.

Mental health affects one in four people and our #100ThousandHours campaign is our local effort to reach and benefit as many of those as possible.

Dawn Wright, St Andrew’s Voluntary Services Manager, is appreciative of everyone’s efforts. She commented: “Huge thanks to all of the partners’ regular volunteers, local companies and community groups and all the additional individuals who have stepped up so far to support this campaign and help us reach this milestone – they have all been amazing.“

However, with only 10 months remaining and 90 thousand hours still to achieve, we are going to need a lot of extra helpers to achieve this mammoth challenge!

Whether you are an individual, local business or community group, please pledge some of your time to support the campaign for mental health. You can contact St Andrew’s Healthcare or any of the partner charities to get involved or to find out more.

“Volunteering is about so much more than giving – whilst supporting someone else you can gain experience, meet new friends, learn or share skills and boost your own mental health and wellbeing at the same time,” explained Dawn.

“So if you are looking for a career change; have time to spare; are recently retired; or just want to give back, then we have plenty of volunteering opportunities available for you to get involved with.”
