Workbridge event to showcase opportunities for adults and young people

Young people and adults with learning disabilities are all welcome to attend a special information event, to be held at Workbridge on Thursday 26 September.

Ideally suited for those who have, or are supporting the care of people with, mental illness, learning disabilities, autism or brain injuries, the event will provide an opportunity for people to find out about activities and day services available in the county.  Care providers from across Northamptonshire will be available to share information about their services, all of which aim to support people to increase their confidence and independence, gain social skills, and uncover new hobbies and interests.

Exhibitors at the event include Northamptonshire Adult Social Services (NASS), MENCAP, Mentaur Group, Spectrum, Brookside Daycare Centre, Teamwork Trust, The Bee Hive and Workbridge.

Chloe While, Service Manager at Workbridge, explained: “As well as providing a chance to visit Workbridge’s fantastic, unique environment – where our people can develop their skills in a supported setting – this special event will also welcome other providers from across the region.

“Together we will be able to offer attendees advice around accessing vocational development, social groups and support services, as well as advise to school leavers on the ‘next steps’ open to them. Everyone is welcome, and we’re a friendly bunch at Workbridge; we look forward to welcoming you.”

Sue Matthews and her daughter Holly attended last year’s event, and Holly now regularly attends Workbridge for sessions including woodwork, catering, textiles and office skills. She also works in the Workbridge charity shop.

“The first thing we noticed was the overwhelming vibe and enthusiasm from everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed the event; we found it very informative and were amazed with the amount of vocational training opportunities on offer.  Really, really worth a visit... Workbridge has changed my daughter’s life,” Sue explained.

Attendees are welcome to drop in anytime between 3 – 6pm on Thursday 26 September. To register your interest, email workbridge@standrew.co.uk or call on 01604 872770.

The award-winning Workbridge coffee shop will be open for refreshments both before and during this event.
