A community team who worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic supporting their service users has been presented with a top award.

St Andrew’s staff based at Winslow in Nottingham were surprised to be presented with the ‘Commitment to Health and Social Care throughout the Pandemic’ prize at the Nottinghamshire Healthcare Professional UK awards.

They had all been invited to the event and were told they were needed to help promote community services within the region.

Karen Zemontas, Community Services Administrator, said: “We had absolutely no idea we had even been nominated, so when we heard we had actually won an award it was a huge surprise.”

Infact, the entire team had been nominated by Healthcare Assistant Olusegun Oyediran, who nominated Winslow for their contribution to the healthcare sector in general.

He said: “The Winslow team go above and beyond for their service users, day in and day out. I have never known such a dedicated and committed team and I wanted to show them that their hard work is hugely appreciated.”

Karen added: “We’re hugely proud of the award. Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, trying to keep our service users safe and well. They also put in a lot of effort keeping everyone occupied during lockdown because they were unable to go out and about as they would have been able to do in normal circumstances.

“This accolade is a huge recognition of their hard work and dedication and we would love it if this could be shared with the rest of the charity.”
