St Andrew’s to host end of life conference

Local healthcare professionals will be gathering at St Andrew’s in Northampton on Wednesday 6 September, when the Charity hosts the ‘Triangulating Care’ end of life care conference.

End of life care is an integral part of the care provision at St Andrew’s Healthcare, and is intended to ensure that patients receive world class care throughout their life, including support after their death, and that staff feel confident in providing that care.

We are delighted to be welcoming esteemed guest speakers, including Dr Bhavyang Acharya, Consultant in Palliative Medicine from Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Sue Tompkins who is the Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire & Warwickshire specialist advisor for Huntington’s Disease.

Dr Ayema Lwin, Consultant Psychiatrist within the Neuropsychiatry Pathway, explained: “Any death has emotional consequences for families, carers, ward peers, and for staff, all of whom may require prompt and appropriate support following the death to minimise distress and alleviate suffering.  This can only be achieved by promoting discussion about end of life care from a national level to its effects on all involved as individuals.”

An event programme is now available. For more information or to confirm your attendance, please kindly email: ssaw@standrew.co.uk.
