Mental health crisis cafes for young people

We have proudly joined forces with other mental health organisations to offer crisis cafes for young people who find themselves struggling with their mental health or in a crisis.

St Andrew’s Healthcare, the lowdown, Youth Works and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) have teamed up to offer new, collaborative crisis cafes as part of a pilot scheme. The pilot is being funded by NHS England to increase access of mental health support for young people in the county, with the hope of reducing the admissions of young people in a crisis presenting at A&E.

The aim of the crisis cafes are to provide a safe place for young people (between the ages of 12 and 18) to come along and receive support for their mental health or if they find themselves in a crisis. The crisis cafes are run by friendly mental health professionals who will listen and help individuals in their time of need by providing advice, support or signposting / referrals to the relevant team or organisation.

The cafes are available to anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 living in Northamptonshire, whether they are in contact with mental health services in the county or not.

Please see the locations and timings below for the weekly crisis cafes – these will run every week starting from Monday 20 January 2020.*
