Paul Burstow has stepped down as Chair of St Andrew’s Healthcare, the charity that provides specialist care for people with complex mental health needs.

Appointed in 2020, Paul chaired the charity through the COVID-19 pandemic and a period of significant change. Paul led the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Dr Vivienne McVey, and reshaped the Board of St Andrew’s.

Paul said, “After five years, now is the right time to step down as Chair. I am proud of the work St Andrew’s has done to support patients every day, helping hundreds of people to live a better life with hope.

“As St Andrew’s addresses the recent challenges that we have been transparent about, it needs a new Chair to guide it through the next phase of its journey, one that will see a refocused and reshaped charity.”

The recruitment process for a new Chair is underway, and an announcement will be made in due course.

Vivienne said, “I would like to thank Paul for his leadership and commitment to St Andrew’s. Paul’s work in building and strengthening the Board means we have the governance and expertise to support us as we look to the future.”
