Specialist Deaf Community House rated ‘Good’ across all domains by CQC

We’re proud to announce that 17 The Avenue, one of our specialist Deaf community houses in Northampton, has been rated ‘Good’ across all five domains following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

In their report, the CQC praised the service, stating: “The service provided a personalised, compassionate, and risk-aware environment that promoted the person’s safety, dignity and independence, while embracing their communication and emotional needs.”

Inspectors also highlighted the individual’s progress and wellbeing: “It was evident from reviewing the person’s care records, including their care journey, how well the person was doing in their current placement and the progression and achievements they had made.”

Communication was recognised as a particular strength, with the report noting that the person was supported by both interpreters and staff trained in British Sign Language (BSL). The CQC added that the team had “developed a supportive service for the Deaf community.”

Kelly Hebden, Associate Director of Nursing, commented: “This Good rating is a reflection of the compassion, skill and commitment our team brings to their work every day. At 17 The Avenue, we’re proud to offer a space where Deaf individuals with complex needs feel safe, respected and empowered. I’m incredibly proud of the team and grateful to the person we support, whose voice and journey are at the heart of everything we do.”

A huge well done to the team at 17 The Avenue.
