St Andrew’s Healthcare, the charity providing specialist care for people with complex mental health needs, has appointed Steve Gray as Interim Chair.
Steve brings over 40 years of experience in healthcare and business leadership. Most recently, he served for nine years as Chief Executive Officer of Nuffield Health, the UK’s largest healthcare charity, before stepping down in 2024.
Steve said:
“St Andrew’s is an extraordinary charity that inspires hope every day for some of the most vulnerable people in society. Working in partnership with the NHS, St Andrew’s plays a vital role in the UK’s healthcare system.
“The charity has been open about the challenges it faces in consistently delivering high-quality care. I look forward to working with the CEO and the Board to help navigate these critical issues.”
Dr Vivienne McVey, Chief Executive Officer of St Andrew’s Healthcare, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Steve to the Board. His wealth of experience and deep commitment to our mission will be invaluable. Together, and through the delivery of our urgent action plan, I am confident we will achieve the transformation needed to secure the charity’s future.”
Steve’s appointment is on an interim basis, bringing specialist skills and experience to support St Andrew’s through its transformation. Once the initial phase of this is complete, a permanent Chair will be appointed.
Steve replaces Paul Burstow, who stepped down as Chair earlier this month.
