St Andrew’s staff and patients celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week

This year we welcomed in Mental Health Awareness Week by hosting over 40 internal and external events, aimed at raising awareness for body image.

To start the week off we joined in with the #MentalHealthMinute which was broadcast on radio stations across the country. We were inspired by the Duke of Cambridge Prince William, Katy Perry, Stephen Fry, Alesha Dixon and Jameela Jamil who all shared some powerful words about their mental health journeys.

Here at our hospitals we understand the importance of bringing awareness to our staff, and we held workshops to encourage us to talk about mental health in the workplace, reduce stigma, and highlight what actions we can take. Our Mental Health First Aiders were also on hand for staff to open up about any difficulties or problems they may be encountering.

The week was capped off with our Mental Health Boot Camp, where parents, teachers and carers of young children were able to find out, and ask questions, about body image and how they can help.

All of us at St Andrew’s would like to thank everyone involved in our events, and the entire community for spreading the awareness!
