St Andrew's Healthcare is supporting International Men’s Day on Saturday which was created to encourage men to start talking about their mental and physical health.

It is also a chance to celebrate worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.

Three times as many men as women die by suicide and shockingly, men aged 40 to 49 have the highest suicide rates in the UK.

Research has also identified that men are less likely to access psychological therapies than women. Only 36 per cent of referrals to NHS talking therapies are for men.

This is also true for male staff at St Andrew's, as there are considerably less men using the trauma service and Employee Assistance Programme than women.

St Andrew's Healthcare's partners over at Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust have a series of events planned to help celebrate.
