Celebration event for young patients as they achieve 451 qualifications!

When young people are admitted to St Andrew’s, their education in no way gets put on hold. Thanks to St Andrew’s College our young people are learning a full curriculum, with many achieving recognisable qualifications.

Last week we held a ceremony within FitzRoy House to recognise their achievements. Mel Dixon, Assistant Head Teacher, welcomed everyone including family, friends and staff to this popular event. The afternoon featured entertainment from several of our young people, including a medley of songs performed by the drama group, a rap rendition and two girls who performed their original songs. This was followed by the presentation of certificates by Deputy CEO, Jess Lievesley who spoke for all staff when he told the young people how very, very proud of them we all are.

Head teacher Julie Sadler explained: "I'm so very proud of each and every one of our students. We firmly believe that every young person deserves the same access to education. Some of our pupils are very poorly when they join us at St Andrew’s, but education plays a core role in their mental health recovery.”

Altogether, the young people amassed a total of 451 qualifications - with two of the students even completing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award while being in our care.

Congratulations everyone!
